• Key functions & working principle

Working Principle	1. Priming Process: When the lever/knob is pressed (downstroke), the piston compresses the fuel in the pump chamber, closing the inlet check valve and opening the outlet check valve – fuel is pushed into the fuel lines/filter housing.
	2. Return Stroke: Releasing the lever allows the spring to push the piston back (upstroke), creating a vacuum in the pump chamber – this opens the inlet check valve, drawing fuel from the tank into the pump.
	3. Air Purge: Repeating the lever motion displaces air from the fuel lines/filter and fills them with diesel fuel; air exits via a bleed screw (on the fuel filter housing) until only fuel flows out.
	4. Idle State: Once primed, the check valves keep fuel in the lines, and the piston seal prevents leakage – the engine can draw fuel normally from the tank when started.
Core Functions	1. Air Removal: Eliminates air from the fuel system (a major cause of engine hard starting or stalling) after filter replacement, fuel tank refilling, or fuel line disconnection
	2. Fuel Priming: Builds low pressure in the fuel lines to push diesel fuel through the filter and into the injection pump – ensures the engine has adequate fuel supply for startup
	3. Leak Prevention: Check valve and piston seal prevent fuel backflow and leakage, maintaining system prime even when the engine is off
	4. Emergency Operation: No electrical power needed – allows manual priming in remote locations or during electrical system failures
